Indianapolis Embroidery

Stitched, not printed — the difference shows up the moment someone touches it.

Embroidery stitches your logo directly into the fabric with thread, instead of laying ink or film on top of it. It's the standard for anything that needs to look premium and hold up to years of wear: polos, jackets, hats, uniforms, anything with a collar or a brim. The tradeoff is real — embroidery can't reproduce fine gradients or photo detail the way printing can, and it costs more per piece for large designs. But for a clean logo on a chest or a hat, nothing reads as more "this business takes itself seriously" than stitching.

Embroidery machine stitching a logo into fabric Embroidery

Best For

  • Polos, button-downs, jackets, and anything business-casual or uniform-related
  • Hats and caps (embroidery is close to the only clean option for structured hat fronts)
  • Logos with clean lines and limited fine detail — text, simple marks, 1–8 thread colors
  • Anything that needs to look premium and survive years of commercial washing

How It Works

From art file to finished piece.

01
Digitizing

Your logo gets converted into a stitch file — a literal path map for the embroidery machine's needle. This is the step most shops rush or outsource cheap; we don't, because a bad digitizing job is the single biggest reason embroidered logos come out looking sloppy.

02
Sizing & placement proof

You approve exact placement (left chest, full back, hat front, sleeve) and size before anything gets stitched.

03
Hooping

The garment is hooped tight and stable so the fabric doesn't shift mid-stitch, which is what causes puckering.

04
Stitching

The machine runs your digitized file, thread color by thread color.

05
Trim & inspect

Jump stitches get trimmed, backing removed or trimmed as appropriate, and each piece gets checked for registration and thread tension before packing.

Best For

  • Logos with clean lines and limited fine detail — text, simple marks, 1–8 thread colors

Less Ideal For

  • Photo-realistic or highly detailed gradient designs — printing will reproduce these better
  • Very small text below roughly 1/4 inch — stitches can't resolve detail that fine

We'll say so upfront and point you to the right method instead.

Pricing & Timing

What it costs, how long it takes.

Pricing

Priced per piece based on stitch count (a denser, more detailed logo costs more to stitch — that's real machine time, not a markup) plus a one-time digitizing fee for a new logo file. Digitizing is done once and kept on file — every reorder after the first skips that fee entirely, at any quantity, including a single hat.

Turnaround

Standard turnaround is 5–7 business days from art approval. Digitizing typically adds 1–2 business days on a brand-new logo.

FAQ

Embroidery questions, answered straight.

What's the minimum order for embroidery?

One piece. A single embroidered hat or polo is a normal order — you pay the digitizing fee once (if it's a new logo) and the per-piece stitch cost for that one item.

Do I have to pay the digitizing fee every time I order?

No. Digitizing happens once per logo and the file is kept on file. Every future order, whether it's a hat for one person or uniforms for a 20-person crew, reuses that file at no extra fee.

Can you embroider a photo or a very detailed design?

Not accurately — embroidery works in stitches, not pixels, so fine gradients and photo detail get lost or muddy. If your design is highly detailed, we'll tell you honestly and point you to DTG or DTF instead.

What garments can be embroidered?

Polos, button-downs, jackets, hats, bags, towels, aprons — basically anything with a stable enough fabric to hoop. Very stretchy or very thin fabric is trickier and gets flagged during the art check.

How long does embroidery last?

Thread doesn't crack or peel the way a bad print can — a well-digitized, properly stitched logo will outlast the garment in most cases.

Ready to price out your custom embroidery?

One piece or two hundred — you'll get exact, itemized pricing before anything goes into production.
